Application Deadline: November 16, 2025 – 18:00 (Europe/Paris)

Offer Description

We are seeking a candidate for a 2-year postdoctoral position in the ANR HoloFungi collaborative project, which aims to study the chemical interactions within a toxic dinoflagellate holobiont with a specific focus on fungi.

Responsibilities:

  • Explore nutrient exchange between the dinoflagellate and fungi through a fluxomic approach using stable isotopic labeling
  • Conduct kinetic measurements of metabolites in the extracellular medium using ¹H-NMR (proton nuclear magnetic resonance) methodology
  • Perform micro-organism culture with isotope labeling, extraction, profiling, and data analysis
  • Explore chemical mediation between the dinoflagellate and fungi through a metabolomics approach (LC-HRMS)
  • Focus on induced chemical novelty along with the impact of microbial co-culture on toxin production
  • Isolate compounds produced by fungal strains isolated from the toxic dinoflagellate through traditional natural products chemistry strategy
  • Characterize pure compounds using 1D and 2D NMR and high-resolution MS prior to their biological evaluation on the dinoflagellate and/or as potential antimicrobials
  • Manage samples and data between partners
  • Valorize results through scientific publication, presentation in scientific conferences, and to non-scientific audiences

Requirements:

  • Research Field: Chemistry » Analytical chemistry
  • Education Level: PhD or equivalent
  • Technical skills:
    • Microorganism culture, extraction, compound purification (flash chromatography, HPLC), structural identification of compounds (NMR, MS), metabolomics
    • Additional knowledge of R and/or Python is an asset
  • Cross-disciplinary skills:
    • Writing scientific reports and articles, project management, data management, adaptability, autonomy, initiative, ability to cooperate, ability to be proactive, ability to research and evaluate information
    • Skills in scientific mediation would be an advantage
